Stacking The Shelves #100 & Sunday Post #63

I am combining two great blog hops:  Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer).  Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about.  I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription.  If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back!

I have begun to participate in the Amazon affiliate program, so if you click on any of the book covers it will take you to Amazon if you want to buy the book.  I will be getting a small fee for each purchase.

On The Blog:

Tuesday:  ARC Review: The Worriers Guide To The End Of The World by Torre DeRoche

Friday:  ARC Review:  The Ninja's Illusion

In Real Life:
The days are getting cooler each morning, but it is still rather warm in the afternoons.  I look forward to it getting cold enough to wear sweaters and serve soup for dinner.
Our Kindergarten class went on our first field trip to the pumpkin patch.  It was so fun with the students running around hay bale mazes and "swimming" in giant lima bean pools.  Little kids are so fun, and I always feel more excited by holidays when I see them through their eyes.

Also, I was able to go to a fun book event at A Great Good Place For Books, in Oakland, CA.  There were not many people, so we were able to just have a wonderful conversation with authors Gigi Pandian, and Susan Spann.  Both of their latest books take place in Japan!  I am always interested in this topic as I lived there for over three years.  So, of course, I had to buy several books while I was at the event.  So much for the book buying ban!

  3. I love soup, and I must admit that I even have it during the summer...LOL.

I had chili last night, though, another dish that says "fall," and makes me want to curl up by a fire. But it isn't cold enough for that.

I am envious of your Bay Area book events. Thanks for sharing, and I'm curious about Home Fire.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. It was so nice to be able to open the windows for a few days there--but now the air conditioner is back on. It's in the mid-90's today. That seems so wrong. And as much as my daughter would like to get in the pool, I had to break her heart and tell her no. She's still sick. I know what you mean about the holidays being even more special through a child's eyes. It's hard not to catch their enthusiasm. I am glad the fieldtrip went well! You've reminded me that I need to make sure we get to the pumpkin patch before the end of the month.

You got to talk with Susan Spann! That is so neat! I am glad you had a good time at the book event. I hope I'll be able to go to the L.A. Times Festival of Books this next year, but we'll see. All your new books look great! I have a copy of Spann's book but not the others. Home Fire especially is on my radar. I hope you have a great week!

  7. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather too- we've already started having soup and chili lol. Love the autumn food! The book event you went to sounds great! Nice when you get to spend some quality time with an author or two.

The Rosie Effect looks fun, and the Susan Spann novel looks good as well.

  8. Oh it's definitely already cold enough for sweaters here! Actually, they've turned on the heating everywhere. We need boots and coats!
And the books you grabbed look great. The Rosie Effect? There's a sequel? I have to have it!
    Have a great week :)

  9. It's been the same here, weather-wise--cooler in the morning, but warm during the day. It was in the 80s here yesterday. Happy reading!

  11. The Rosie Effect was good. It had the quirky charm of the first book, just not as good.
