Stacking The Shelves #41 & Sunday Post #4

http://tyngasreviews.com/

http://caffeinatedbookreviewer.com/

I am combining two wonderful weekly features: Stacking The Shelves (hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews) and Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer).  But of these features allow people to blog hop to dozens of great book blogs and see what books they acquired, and what everyone is excited about this week.

If you like what you see, please consider following me.  Just let me know the method you use in the comments (Bloglovin, GFC, Networked Blogs, or email subscription), and I pinky promise to follow you back!

As always, all book covers are linked to GoodReads, to if you want to learn more, just click away...

It's been a fun week for me as I got to go to a book launch on Tuesday, in Oakland.  Then, my daughter and I got to go away to Napa for a short break with my friend, Kimberley.  We've been friends for five years and watched our girls grow up from fifth grade to now being sophomores in high school.  So much has changed but we still can talk for hours and hours.  Good friends are a treasure!

Sunday, Jenny and I get to go to the Adele concert!!!  I am beyond excited.  Tomorrow we will go shopping and get some pampering in for our big day out!  Will it be rude if I belt out the tunes while Adele singing?  I will try mightily to restrain myself (maybe Jenny can tap me on the shoulder when I make a fool of myself!)

On The Blog:
I was super productive and wrote about nine posts for the coming weeks!  I have two regular posts:  Monday's SF Bay Area Book Events, and this one.  Then I hope to have two to three other posts per week.  I hate being stressed out or reaching for topics, so I am not going to freak out if I don't post every day.

Saturday:  Stacking The Shelves #40 & Sunday Post #3

Monday:  Bay Area Book Events #5

Tuesday:  ARC Review:  Valley Of The Moon by Melanie Gideon.

Wednesday:  Review:  Ghostbusters

Thursday:  Book Review:  Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes

Read This Week:

The big thing I read this week was Super Sushi Ramen Express, by journalist Michael Booth.  This is a serious exploration of Japanese cuisine.  Since I lived in Japan for over three years, I found this book totally engrossing.  But I think it will be tiresome for people who are not Japan geeks (as I am).

I have decided to research my Mexican roots, so two of these books deals with chicano folklore and legends.  I also got two audiobooks, The Queen, by Kiera Cass, and The Flood GirlsThe Queen was very short, so I finished that one quickly.  The Flood Girls is good, but I can't listen to it with my kids in the car (too adult!).

Bought By Me:

I bought two copies of this wonderful book at the launch party for the author, Melanie Gideon. I really enjoy author talks, and this one was really inspiring.  Valley Of The Moon took Melanie four years to complete!  She actually wrote an entire 500 page novel and then threw it out and started over again.  Oh my gosh, I admire her tenacity to keep going.  I don't know if I would.

What books did you get this week?  What other fun, sad, wonderful, surprising, upsetting, things happened this week?  Let's talk!

  1. I'm feeling more productive now that the computer saga is over. I'm hoping to be blogging daily again and getting those old book reviews written and posted. I'm getting some reading done but still not sleeping great-I so much need a new bed but it will need to wait! Enjoy your books and have a good week!

    1. I'm glad to hear your getting things done for your blog! And I totally understand about the bed situation. Why do beds have to cost the same as a car??? We need a new bed too. There are hills and valleys across our mattress! I am seriously considering getting one of those mattresses you get in a box! Or a memory foam layer that I can spread across our existing mattress (much cheaper). Have a good week.

    1. Thank you, Vi. I really enjoyed Valley Of The Moon. It is kind of a modern day retelling of the musical Brigadoon (this is according to the author). it is very dreamlike and romantic.
