I am combining two weekly features: Stacking The Shelves (hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Both of these features are great ways to find great book blogs that are showcasing the books they got this week.
If you find this blog and like what you see, please consider following me. Just let me know the method that you used in the comments, and I will follow you back.
As always, all book covers are linked to GoodReads. So if you want to check out a book, just click away...
Read This Week:
This was a week of Audiobook listening! I got so much done while I listened to some great books. I loved Ink and Bone and Eleanor & Park (both got 5 stars). It took me a long time to warm up to Welcome To Night Vale, but I did like it (3 stars). I also read three wonderful books (well two wonderful books, and one turkey)! Girl In Pieces was powerful and beautifully written. I loved Carry on, the fanfic parody bu Rainbow Rowell. But The Tao Of Bill Murray was very tedious. I won't be able to post my review until September, but I was really disappointed in this book.
From The Library:
After reading Fangirl and starting in on Carry On (both by Rainbow Rowell) I thought it was high time to read her first big success, Eleanor & Park. it deals with domestic abuse and bullying, so it was difficult to listen to at times. But ultimately, I loved it so much. Then I needed a break from heavy subjects, so I got the audiobook of Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes. It is a fun way to learn about the Greek myths.
Kindle:
This is the third in the Air Awakens series. I can't wait to continue this saga.
NetGalley:
Penguin Teen: First In Line
Whoo Hoo! I won this by being literally "First In Line" at a Barnes & Noble event (remember B'Fest back in June?)! I can't wait to start this.
What books did you get this week? Which ones are you most excited to read? Let me know in the comments.
Earth's End has a really great cover and I scuttled hopefully over to check out book one. As soon as I saw love triangle/square, I decided it was not going to be something I would be interested in. Gah! Why does every book end up in stupid tropes I hate??? *rants* Oh well, moving on, enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you don't like those tropes, but I get it. I think that only lasts in book one (not wanting to give too much away). I read it and The Grisha books by Leigh Bardugo came to mind. Have a fun week.
DeleteYay Gemina!! Loved that one!! Hope you enjoy all the lovely reads!!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I will definitely read Gemina this week. I was so lucky to go to an author event with the authors in May, and they gave a copy away (I didn't get it). I was so jealous!
DeleteWhat an impressive haul! Happy reading & I am looking forward to read your review about Percy Jacksons Greek Heroes. I haven´t read any of Rick Riordans books yet, but I saw the Percy Jackson movies.
ReplyDeletebest wishes
Vi @ Gone With The Books
Oh, the books are so much better! I am listening to the Percy Jackson right now (almost done). It is really informative, and funny! Have a good week.
DeleteI am looking forward to gemina, and I've been really curious about Night Vale since listening to a few episodes of the podcast.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is obsessed with Welcome To Night Vale and recently went to a live show. She loved it. It took me a while when listening to the audio book to find an actual story. But when it finally emerged out of all the silliness, it was quite good. I am reading one ARC, and then Gemina will be my next read! I am very excited to read this book.
DeleteI really liked Eleanor & Park. I think it has to be my favourite Rainbow Rowell read. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was really moving. Sadly, I identified with the domestic abuse premise from my childhood. She was right on the mark.
DeleteAah, Carry On. <3 Love that book.
ReplyDeleteCarry On was just a fun book, particularly if you are a potter head (as I am).
DeleteOh I'm jealous! I want Gemina!!!! happy reading!
ReplyDeleteIt will be out in October, so you don't have long to wait. I am only holding this copy because I got to B & N two hours early for an event and I was literally the first In Line. There was a prize for the first in line (unbeknownst to me), and that is how I got it.
DeleteExcept for one book, I had a week of audio listening, too. One of them was over 18 hours, and I was afraid I wouldn't get to my others but luckily, I did. Gemina!!!!!!!! I loved Illuminae so much and was amazed at how stunning it was visually. I'm eager to read Gemina and definitely want to add that one to my shelf next to Illuminae. My Sunday post
ReplyDeleteHave you listened to the audio book of Illuminae? It was wonderful and added a new dimension to the story. It is a full production, not just a person reading the book. GET IT NOW!
DeleteVery sorry to hear Tao of Bill Murray was disappointing. It looks so promising.

I'll be publishing a review closer to the publication date, but 50% of it was a cataloging over every single movie Bill Murray has been in. As much as I am a fan, it was overkill.
DeleteIsn’t Rainbow Rowell awesome? I’m obsessed with everything she writes.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Yes, now I am a superfan! I need to find her two other books, Landlines, and Attachments, like, now!
DeleteOoo, nicely done with winning Gemina! I got a copy this week as well, though I didn't win mine. I am excited to read the book. :D I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! Have a lovely week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yes, I consider myself darn lucky to get a copy! I hope they swing by the Bay Area again in the Fall to promote Gemina.
DeleteThat's so awesome that you have a copy of Gemina! I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on it because it literally is one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Yes! I am very excited to read this. It seems to be in the same format as Illuminae, so it should be really fun to read.
DeleteA few familiar books there this week, but I like the look of Girl in Pieces!
ReplyDeleteGirl In Pieces was a powerful book. I will be publishing my review (and a giveaway)on August 14th. I was so involved in this book that it made me cry in several parts. I hope you will read it.
DeleteI've been taking a break from audio books this summer while the kids are out of school and I'm finding that I really miss them! Night Vale looks really good. Definitely one I want to check out! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAudio books, are a great way to multi-task. I usually listen to them as I am doing chores around the house. It's my treat to myself. Night Vale is really weird, but fun.
DeleteAwesome haul, Ardis! I hope you'll enjoy all your new books :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Thank you Lexxie! I love your blog design, BTW. It is fresh and inviting.
DeleteI haven't read any of these books. *pouts*
ReplyDeleteI've heard the Air Awakens series is really good.
Great haul. Happy Reading!
I enjoyed Ink and Bone. I have Eleanor and Park, but haven't read it yet. Enjoy your week, and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
Eleanor & Park is my favorite Rainbow Rowell. I enjoyed the audio version.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Eleanor & Park, and I'm really looking forward to reading Gemina!
ReplyDeleteLindsey
Ooo I have Welcome to Night Vale! I haven't read it yet but I love the podcast - have you listened to that? Also, that cover for Earth's End is gorgeous! :)
