Happenings This Week:
There were lots of changes for me at work this week, as I had a temporary assignment that ended on Friday. I feel really honored to work with kids and I will miss the class, and teachers I have gotten to know over this assignment. Next week, it's on to another placement... I'm looking forward to seeing my usual co-workers and seeing some familiar student faces again! There were several wonderful book signings in the Bay Area this past week. But, with my son getting his wisdom teeth out on Monday, it was more important to be home in the evenings so I could make sure I could spoil him. He was a trooper!
Read This Week:
These are the books I got a few weeks ago when Ransom Riggs was in the Bay Area. Both of these books were so imaginative and surprising. I really enjoyed them.
I am hosting a giveaway of a signed copy of Tales Of The Peculiar (I bought a second copy when I attended the book signing). This giveaway is open internationally, but you must be a follower of this blog.

New This Week:
NetGalley:
Since my daughter has become a vegetarian, I am getting a deep appreciation for all the flack people get when they reject meat. This book has been eye-opening!
Edelweiss:
Again, my daughter (who plays violin) is the inspiration for me getting this book. It is supposed to have lots of odd information about classical composers. It sounds like a fun book that I hope will give me a better appreciation of classical music. One of the entries in my giveaway is to leave a blog post and say what Peculiar talent would you want. I would want to fly! How about you?
Have a wonderful week!
I have Furthermore on my wishlist, too. The cover looks sooooo great! Happy reading and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSince Tynga isn´t blogging (at least I haven´t seen anything yet) here is my STS
now I am going to follow you on Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, via email and Twitter (if I haven´t done that already *smile*)
best wishes
Vi @ Gone With The Books
well turns out, I can´t follow you on NetworkedBlogs, since they changed that to the other service which costs- but I already followed you on bloglovin *smile* and Twitter. So nice to see you there as well
Deletebest wishes

I really enjoyed Furthermore! I think the kids of Ransom Riggs and Taherer Mafi and Ransom Riggs (if they have any) will have a magical childhood! I didn't know Networked Blogs costs to join! I was wondering why no one follows through that method. thank you for solving that mystery!
DeleteOOh nice new reads! Hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Thank you, Jessica. You are always reliably stop by! Have a great week.
DeleteNew books are always fun.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
I've been seeing Furthermore everywhere lately! Everyone has seemed to really enjoy it, so I think it's going on my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteOH, and for my peculiar talent I would love to be able to read minds. I love helping people but I know a lot of the time people won't ask for help when they need it so reading minds would really be helpful!
DeleteI hope your son is doing well after getting his wisdom teeth removed. Ouch! I love going to books signings but it is hard to get to as many as I would like. I just love the cover of Furthermore! If I had a talent, I would want to be able to get by on less sleep. I could get more done if I could just function on less sleep.
ReplyDeleteHuh, Beethoven's Skull looks like just the sort of non-fiction I enjoy. Hope it's good!
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of your Bay Area book events. I drove through there on the way back from Northern California at the beginning of August, but we were in a hurry to get back home to Central California.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I love what you read this week! I want to read those books as well :) Glad you enjoyed them!
ReplyDeleteLipstick and Mocha
I'd love to teleport! That's not a peculiar gift, but I seriously want to teleport lol I hope your son is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Latte Nights Reviews
Oh man! I got my wisdom teeth taken out two years ago, during spring break. I do not ever recommend getting surgery of any kind during spring break! Not enough recovery time. :O I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! Have a fabulous week. :)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I'm not familiar with any of these books. Wow, I must be hiding under a rock! lol I'm glad your son is doing so well. It always sucks to see them in pain. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteThat's noce! some goos books there! happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about My Year Without Meat as I've thought about going vegetarian before, but I never did. I do sometimes wonder how I would have done with it.
ReplyDeleteI love nonfiction, and have a special soft spot for memoirs, so both of these titles sound fascinating. I'm neither musical nor vegetarian, so I'm always curious about other lifestyles and talents. It's like a window into another world!
ReplyDeleteFurthermore's whimsical cover really catches the eye. Sounds like a good one too. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you will be returning to a familiar placement with co-workers and kids you are used to. Furthermore is on my radar, but I'm not sure if it's for me. I do love that whimsical cover, though. Hope you have a fabulous week!
