I am combining two great blog hops: Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about. I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features!

Happenings This Week:
I am posted with a new student at school now, and I am very happy with my assignment! Great teacher, student, and support staff will make this a wonderful year! I am feeling very appreciated and it makes me feel good when my opinions are sought.
On the reading front, I only got one book read this week! I feel very behind. But I really needed to focus on my kids this week (at home), so by the time I could read, I was exhausted. Well, on the plus side, I am sleeping solidly!
I did a giveaway for my signed copy of Ransom Rigg's new book, Tales Of The Peculiar, and the winner is:
Julie M. from Pennsylvania!
I did open it up internationally and will continue to do so, as I actually have several followers from other countries! I will do another giveaway when I reach 1000 Twitter followers. I'm at 900 followers now...
Read This Week:
I just finished this book and found it very engaging. I am not a vegetarian, but my teen daughter is, so I wanted to read this for her. I will post a review of this book soon. But it really made me think about how our food is made.
New Books:

Irish Banana Blog Tour:
Public Library:
I rediscovered my public library in this last week and ordered a bunch of books I've been wanting to read. The steampunk series The
Clockwork Century are books I found while blog hopping last weekend. I can't remember which site I saw these on, but they look really fun!
Free on Kindle:
Who doesn't like a free book, right?
Bought:
I did spend some money on these books as my husband wants to read them now that the movie is coming out next week ( I already have Library Of Souls). I love the new cover of the first book! That's all for this week. What books did you read? What are you looking forward to reading?
Wow, that is one great haul you´ve got there! I´ve seen a few of the covers already, but not read any of them. Hope you´ll enjoy all your books. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletehere is my STS
best wishes
Vi @ Gone With The Books
I really enjoyed the Miss Peregrine series and I'm trying to get others in my family to read them prior to seeing the movie (it comes out next week). Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteGreat haul. I need to go back and read Miss Peregrine again. I read the first one but have not continued with the series. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteTsuki’s STS
It's a fun series! I love that he makes a story out of all those creepy pictures.
DeleteOoh nice new reads!! Haven't read any of these but I hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
The Miss Peregrine series is so fun and imaginative. I hope you will give them a go. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI can't wait to see Miss Peregrine's next week! My husband and I already have a babysitter lined up so we can go. lol! So excited that I won the giveaway too, thank you so much again! I am so excited!!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting the box ready this morning for shipping...I'll add a few swag items I got, too.
DeleteI find a lot of great authors and series via free kindle books. You got some great books this week.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
Yes, I am discovering more and more wonderful indie authors, and mainstream as well, via Kindle. Have a great week.
DeleteNice haul! I've been wanting to read Kunal Nayyar's book, so hopefully I can pick it up soon, too. :) I hope you enjoy all your new books!
ReplyDeleteLindsey
Yes, I am reading his book now. It's really good. I was hoping that my library had this as an audio book (as I would love to hear him read it), but no such luck. I just have to imagine his voice in my head as I read it. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI need to start using the library again....so many books to read, and if I buy them all, I'll have to do another giant purge. Enjoy your books, and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteJulie is on a roll! She just won a huge romance giveaway from me (it was nine books total, I believe - I accumulated way too many over the past few months). Good for her! Lots of Ransom Riggs here - I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! Have a fantastic weekend. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Yeah meat eaters like myself try not to think about how it gets onto our plates! But becoming veg isn't an option for me as I dislike most vegetables! I'm not a steampunk fan so I find Cherie Priest's books a bit hit and miss for me! I loved her vampire series but we only got two books in it which was a shame...
ReplyDeleteIreally enjoyed Boneshaker, Less Clementine but it was ok. happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, but the movie seems really cool! I hope you enjoy all the books you got this week.
ReplyDeleteSofia @ SofiaLovesReading
I am curious about the Peregrine series now that I have seen the promo. Looks really good. Happy reading and enjoy your week.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental My Sunday Memes
I can't wait to see the movie for the Miss Peregrine series. I was going to buy the series, but a friend of my was really disappointed in the books. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward reading your review of My Year Without Meat as I try not to think hard about how our processed food is made. But at the same time it's important we know. I kinda want to read it but whenever I read something like that I'm like "not eating that ever again" ha ha. And the covers of the Miss Peregrine's books never really appealed to me but with the movie coming I definitely want to check it out!
ReplyDeleteSo cool that you chose to read a book based on your daughter's food choices. And I always have to clarify for people if "my kids" means my students or my personal children too.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a veterinarian, but I was for around six months a year ago. It really opened up my eyes to all of the good food out there that doesn't have meat in it, and I still eat some of those foods on a regular basis! Have a wonderful week! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to look into the Gilded Cage. I saw it on NetGalley but passed over it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOne book is better than no books! The Gilded Cage sounds interesting, I've seen it around some, and those steampunk books have nice covers! Have a great week :-)
ReplyDeleteI hate it when I don't get a lot of reading time but it happens when you have kids that need you. Yay for re-discovering the public library! I just love mine and am really sad that the one closest to my house will close for renovations soon. I can still get to a library but I will have to drive a little further. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a pretty awesome book haul this week. Yay for feeling good on the work front.
ReplyDeleteThe Gilded Cage also caught my eye on Netgalley but isn't in my region! I'll be interested to see what you think of that one. :)
Hope you have a great week further.
Gilded Cage and A Darkly Beating Heart look really good! I hope they are good reads :)
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Latte Nights Reviews
The Clockwork Century books sound really good! I hope you enjoy them. It's been ages since I got anything from the library for myself (it's always for my daughter). I feel so guilty with my own TBR books sitting at home. Not that it stops me from buying books--which it should.
ReplyDeleteCornish's book looks interesting. I am glad you ended up getting something out of it. My daughter doesn't eat meat, but I think it's more from fear to try something different than actual moral reasons. She's only five. She used to eat chicken, but now she won't even touch that.
Thank you for the follow, by the way! I added your blog to my subscription feed so I can follow you as well. :-)
DeleteYay for your new placement! Enjoying your co-workers and environment is so important. I'm excited to read Darkly Beating Heart and need to read Miss Peregrine's (although I know I won't see it in the theater, so I have some time before it comes out on DVD). Happy reading!
