I am combining two great blog hops: Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about. I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription. If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back! As always, all book cover images are linked to GoodReads so if you see a book you want to learn more about, just click away...
What I'm Up To:
I've had some annoying health problems this week, but (thankfully) I was able to quickly get in to see my doctor and get some treatment. I really want to live a healthy life (hey, I'm eating dark chocolate as I write this. That's good for your heart, right?) but it is a challenging cycle of being so tired when I get home that I don't feel I can exercise, and then having joint problems that make exercise really painful. Anyways, I need to make my health a priority. It's a work in progress. We did get to go to a wonderful YA authors event at A Great Good Place For Books in Oakland tonight. I'm still not fully better so I am really achy right now. But it was SO INSPIRING AND FUN! I will do a complete write up of this wonderful evening next week on the blog.
And I am still planning out my novel for National Novel Writing Month...

I went on a bit of a spree at the book event tonight and bought all these wonderful books! I have already read an ARC of Gemina, but this completed copy has all the lovely illustrations that were missing from the ARC! All of the others were from the authors that attended the book night. I want to read all of them immediately! I don't need to sleep, right?

So What new books did you get this week? What are you itching to read? Let me know in the comments.
OOh nice! I picked up a finished copy of Gemina too! Still need to pursue the pages I marked to see all the glorious artwork!! Hope you enjoy all the lovely reads!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Thank you, Jessica. The authors ARE coming to my area to sign books, but it is over an hour away on a weeknight so I can't do it. I also got Gemina last night in order to support this wonderful indie bookstore that was putting on the event. Have a great week.
DeleteAwesome haul of books this week. I hope you love all of your new books this week.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
Thanks Grace! My bookshelves don't love the new arrivals, but I do! Have a great week.
DeleteGreat haul! Seems like I need to get that Gemina too. Hope you enjoy all your new books. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletehere is my STS
Best wishes
Vi @ Gone With The Books
The illustrations really enhance the book, so I had to get it. Have a great week of reading.
DeleteHealth is really tough to keep up on, especially with a busy life. Good luck with that!
ReplyDeleteI really must get on with reading Illuminae...
Thank you, Nikki, for the kind words. I suffer from MOMG (Must Overcome My Guilt)syndrome! I just need to get on with it... Yes, read Illuminae and Gemina. They are both extraordinary.
DeleteI can relate to your exercise issues....it's hard to "enjoy" the process when we're in pain. lol.
ReplyDeleteYour book event sounds like a good one.
Enjoy your new books...I've been curious about This Is Where It Ends. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Thank you Laurel. I wish I was one of those people who just love exercise, but for me it is mostly an exercise in pain! I'll keep trying, though. I've heard great things about This Is Where It Ends, but I may need to follow it up with some light Christmas Romance or something else to balance how dark I think it will be.
DeleteI hope your joints are feeling better today, Ardis! I have recently taken up yoga, and that is really good for my back! And my flexibility and my strength, too, of course. I need to do more, though, but like you, I sometimes feel like it's just not possible...
ReplyDeleteYour new books look great! I've read and enjoyed This is Where it Ends, even if the subject-matter is pretty dark.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

DeleteThanks for the follow, Lexxie. I really enjoy your site and the graphics/theme you have. It is such a fun layout! I just finished a really emotionally difficult book (A Darkly Beating Heart), so I am now going to read something light to balance it. Then I will move on to This Is Where It Ends. I've heard lots of praise for it. Have a great week.
DeleteI hope you feel better soon. I read All The Bright Places a few weeks ago and really liked it. I’m looking forward to Gemina.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thank you AJ. People are obsessed with All The Bright Places! It really is a wonderful (and emotional) book. I really want to finish up all the other reading I need to do and dive in to Holding Up The Universe as quickly as possible. This illustrations for Gemina are so awesome! I think Marie Lu did many of them. Have a great week.
DeleteGood luck on your NaNoWriMo venture! I've always thought about doing it, but really lack the imagination to write a book.
ReplyDeleteStacey @ The Bookish Loner
I just finished Gemina and loved it! The illustrations were wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Sunday Post
I'm waiting for my copy of Gemina to arrive in the mail. Can't wait. So many great books in your haul this week. Looks like the author event was a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Ahhh, I hope you're doing better, health-wise! I loved Gemina - my heart broke while reading the book, but the authors stitched it right back up. I'm sure the conclusion to that series will be amazing. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week. :)
Check out my STS post!
I understand that dark chocolate is indeed good for your health ha ha! Any chocolate really... seriously though it is a work in progress to live healthy, it can be so hard to sometimes. And I think the author event sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to gemina. And love that GIF!
I know what it's like to struggle with exercising. I've tried to exercise every day, but every time I come home from work, I'm so tired that I just fall asleep without exercising. Hopefully, I'll get better at exercising in the long run.
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Catch you over @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
I hope you're feeling 100% better soon---this seems to be the month for health issues! Dark chocolate is definitely a plus, for comfort and happiness if nothing else! :D That gif is just amazing, I wish I could fall asleep as easily as that cute little one. And you got some great books this week! :D
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you werent feeling well. I hope you are doing better now. The books you bought look amazing, sleep is so underrated ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is Where it Ends, was really good! Hope you enjoy it. Hopefully you get to feeling better this week as well. Are we buddies on NaNo yet? If not, you can find me under Buffywnabe on the website. Thanks for stopping by Lisa Loves Literature's Sunday Post earlier!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, that sleepy baby gif is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. As adults, don't we sometimes wish that we could fall asleep that quickly. Hope your health issues are completely solved soon. I know what you mean about ending up feeling so tired that it feels impossible to work out. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I hope you get well. Good health is a must. :D
