Happening This Week:
October
arrived and I couldn't be happier. We have so many fun activities with
the students this month! This is why I love working in a classroom.
The student's enthusiasm puts a bounce in my step and makes me want to
work harder than ever to make these times special for these darling
children.
Last Week On The Blog:

Wednesday: ARC Review: The Lovely Reckless |
I've also been getting several requests from small publishers and new authors, asking for a review. I'm really on the fence about this. On the one hand, I want to support these indie authors and small publishers, and yet... I worry. There have been lots of horror stories about these situations. I am researching each request to be sure that these are reputable publishers and everyone is who they say they are. What have been your experiences? Is there a site that might show a "naughty" list of people to be weary of?

That's it for this week. What are you reading now? What books are you excited about? Let me know in the comments.
I'm so happy that it is October...that means sales time on Amazon is beginning and bargains will be found! Have a good reading week!
ReplyDeleteNice!! I just went the Fierce Reads event last night and it was awesome! First time I've ever seen a St. Louis signing THAT crowded! Totally worth it though! Didn't hurt that I was in the first line grouping...and actually first one in line too! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!

Awesome haul. I went to a signing last night as well at Books of Wonder. Have a lovely weekend.

I still need to read Sabaa Tahir's first book! Gah. So behind. Hope you're enjoying it!

My husband says he's very curious about A Torch Against the Night, so I can't wait to see what you think of it! When it comes to accepting review requests: I have definitely become way more selective. If people can't be arsed to look at my site or address me by my name, I won't even reply to those anymore. Also, be weary of the "If you like it, post a review" line. If I'm going to invest time into reading an author's book, I will post a review no matter what the outcome is, not only if I like it. There are some fabulously friendly and supportive indie authors out there for sure! But you have to be lucky because there are also some pretentious grumpy ones out there.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy that it is October already! I am not ready for any holidays. D: I loved The Lovely Reckless! It was the first Garcia book that I've read, and I liked it a lot. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week. :)
