Stacking The Shelves #27

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  Each week, nearly 100 book bloggers share what books they received!  It is really fun to blog hop and see all the lovelies!  Go to Tynga's blog for the complete list of participants.

It's finally the weekend!  I have had an extremely busy and challenging week and I am so looking forward to doing a ton of reading this weekend in preparation for the release of the final book in The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater!  There are THREE major books coming out next Tuesday:  The Raven King, The Rose & The Dagger, by Renee Ahdieh, and The Star-Touched Queen, by Roshani Chokshi.  I am almost nervous to read these books!

With everything going on in my life, I am sorry to say that I only read ONE book this week.  I will be reading non-stop over the weekend (and over the next two weeks) to get all the new release goodness I can manage.

Read This Week:

I seem to read nothing but WWII inspired books lately!  This was very suspenseful & I will post a review of it next week.

Edelweiss:

I forgot that I downloaded this last week!  It seems weird and wonderful.

I'm really excited to read this book!

From Bloomsbury USA:

This looks like a great book presented in a fun, visually exciting way.

Bought:

Yes!!!  I had to buy hardcovers of all three books.

Library:

Both of these are audiobooks.  I have already read Illuninae but I hear that the audiobook is also really well done. The book about Leonard Nemoy is by William Shatner.  I like to consume celebrity books by audio if only for the fact that the famous person is usually the one to perform it.  I think it really adds to these type of books.

What did you get this week?  Which books are you most excited to read?

  1. My audio book collection consists only of 7 Harry Potter books! I'm always too nervous to spend a lot of money on an audio book in case I hate the narration! And our local library is rubbish so I can't use them to try before I buy! Hope you enjoy your new reads!

    1. Strangely enough, we have a great public library system where you can download audio books onto your phone! Check to see if your library has a website where you can check out ebooks and audio books. Audio books as so expensive that this is the only way I could listen to them. Good luck and thanks for stopping by.

    1. I'm putting a lot of pressure on myself to read a bunch of books this week. I have some commitments for book reviews and I want to just read for pleasure, too! Have a great week.

  3. I have the first book in The Raven Cycle, but haven't read it yet. I've heard good things about it. I really want to read Illuninae. I can't wait for it to go on sale so I can give it a try.

    Great haul! Happy Reading!!

    1. I have read Illuminae and now I listened to the audiobook. Both ways were fantastic. I think the audiobook was great because it made it even more emotional for me. Get it at your library!

  4. I also really like celebrity audio books for that reason. I've listened to Bossypants four times. Lol. Both The Pursuit of Pearls and The Gutsy Girl sound intriguing. I'll have to check them out. The 26th is a crazy release day. Happy reading weekend!

    1. Yes, then there are a bunch of big releases the next week (May 3rd), as well. I enjoyed the Pursuit of Pearls. After I read it, I found out that it is the fourth book in a series! To me, that is the sign of a well written book. So I will need to go back and read the other three books that came before it!

  5. I have been wanting to check out the Raven Boys series for so long but I still haven't! I'm definitely going to get on that this summer. I read Illuminae but I also really want to check out the audiobook. I've heard that it makes the book even better. Happy reading.

    1. The Raven Boys is so amazing! I would get all the books from the library (or buy them) all at once, so you can go seamlessly from one to the next. Happy reading to you too!

    1. Thank you, Suze. I need to hurry up and read all these wonderful books. Outrun The Moon is set in San Francisco (about 100 years ago) so I'm excited to read it.

    1. I think my "eyes are bigger than my stomach". I love all these books, but can only read so fast. At least I have a good selection to choose from, right?
