What a wonderful week!!! Sunday was our amazing day of seeing Adele in concert! We had wonderful seats (although since I am short, I had to bob and weave at times when everyone chose to stand), and could see Adele up close!
I love going to concerts with my daughter!
Okay, on to books!
Read This Week:
Thank you Random House First In Line program for getting me this ARC of Gemina which (Surprise) I loved with the heat of a thousand suns. It is SO GOOD!!!
From The Library:
Now that I listen to a lot of audio books, I am realizing that there are vocal actor superstars. With his sophisticated British accent, Steve West seems to be the leading man in demand. He alternates chapters with Fiona Hardingham. Both are making this book a joy to listen to.
That's about it! I rearranged my bookshelves and realized that I have a ton of books (not to mention ARCs) that I bought but have not read yet, so I will be trying to focus on those in the coming weeks.
How was your week? Anything exciting happening in your neck of the woods?
The only excitement here was getting a new bed and getting ready to watch the Olympics...oh and the arrival of the new Harry Potter book! I hope to start reading it today between events! Hopefully we'll both get through a few books!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you finally got a new bed and hopefully are more comfortable. It's important to be well rested. I will probably only watch the gymnastics and perhaps the diving in the Olympics. Have a wonderful week.
DeleteIt’s so cool you got to read Gemina. I’m looking forward to that one. And, the concert looks like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I just finished Gemina last night and (as usual with this series) I was blown away! So many cool twists and turns. The one thing with getting an ARC copy is that some of the art work (rather essential for this book) was missing. There were a lot of "insert picture here" type notes. So I think I will definitely buy a copy when it comes out. The Adele concert was perfection. She is an amazing musician. Plus she is witty, spontaneous, and joyful despite how gloomy her songs can be. If you have a chance to see her in concert, you should go.
DeleteThank you for sharing all those wonderful pictures from the concert. I can see that you were having a really great time :-) I´ve got Sabaa Tahir on my reading list as well. Hope you enjoy all your books. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletebest wishes

Thanks, Vi. I just finished An Ember In The Ashes and it was deliriously wonderful. i can't believe it took me so long to get to it! And the new book is coming out at the end of the month!!! Read it. Read it soon. You won't regret it.
DeleteOh, I am so jealous that you saw Adele in concert! I tried getting tickets, but had no luck. She's an amazing singer, so I can only imagine how fantastic she is live!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Illuminae yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it and Gemina.
Have a great week!
Both my husband and I were on different computers frantically hitting buttons for almost an hour trying to get tickets. The less expensive ones were gone in the first 5 minutes. We had to do some soul searching to justify it, but wound up getting the Silver package as they were the only ones left. I feel like I would rather go and have great seats for one concert per year then have nosebleed section seats to three other concerts. When we went to see Taylor Swift last year, we were at the top of the stadium, and really only saw her via the giant video screens that were set up. You should really read Illuminae and Gemina. They are unlike any other book series I have ever read (kind of a blending of regular book and graphic novel). They are so imaginative, scary, and fun.
DeleteOoo, Adele! She is wonderful. :D I loved An Ember in the Ashes! I'm going to be reading Gemina soon, and I'm excited. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I finished Gemina on Friday and it was stunning. Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman will be satisfied to know that I cried over parts of this one (I told them about my tears over parts of Illuminae at a book signing and they seemed touched) too. I will definitely get a finished copy when it comes out for all the artwork (some of which was missing in this ARC).
DeleteYay for Adele in concert :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Gemina's final release.
Yes, I want to get a finished copy!
DeleteHow great that you got to go to the concert. It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books, and I'm curious about The Flood Girls. And yes, rearranging our shelves can be an eye-opener.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.
I enjoyed The Flood Girls but I wish it had a different ending. I will post a review of it next week. I got it as an audio book from my local library. I love doing that because then I can take a chance on a book I don't know much about without worrying if I have wasted my $$$. Have a great week.
DeleteI still need to read An Ember in the Ashes and Illuminae. *sigh* I'm so behind on my TBR. I hope you enjoy them, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for visiting Shell's Stories! XD
I just finished An Ember In The Ashes yesterday. It somehow managed to be action-packed and romantic all at once. So, so good.
DeleteAn Ember in the Ashes intrigues me. Enjoy reading!
ReplyDeleteMy Stacking the Shelves post.
I listened to it on audio book from my library! The voice actors are wonderful, I'm sure reading the print edition would be equally as fun. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteAdele sounds like a wonderful concert. And I'm looking forward to Gemina and seeing where they take that story!
ReplyDeleteOh Gemina is a wild ride! You are going to love it!
DeleteI would love to see Adele in concert. So jealous! I've yet to read Gemina and I can't wait to find the time for it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteStéphanie from Tynga's Reviews
If you have an opportunity, go see Adele! It was an amazing concert. Gemina is such a fun book: scary, unpredictable, and fun. You will love it.
DeleteWhoa, my boyfriend would love to go see Adele! Aren't audiobooks great? I looove good narrators, check out Julia Whelan when you get a chance! So excited for Gemina!
