I am combining two great blog hops: Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about. I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription. If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back! As always, all book cover images are linked to GoodReads so if you see a book you want to learn more about, just click away...
On The Blog:
Monday: Bay Area Book Events #52
Wednesday: ARC Review: Paper Hearts by Ali Novak
I was able to get a lot of blog posts in this week, including three book reviews of ARCs! My favorite of this was The Space Between The Stars by Anne Corlett. This was a speculative fiction about what would happen if a deadly virus decimated the population. But it is also a reflection on one woman's struggle to stop running away from life and start living with others. It was so beautifully written, and haunting.
I've read a lot of ARCs this month, and I want to read much more in July to get ahead, and give myself some breathing room so I can read some of my own books on my TBR and not feel the pressure to write reviews if I don't want to!
I also want to thank Kim, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, for recommending me for reviewing audio books. I am very excited to start requesting some audio books, as I love this format. I love how supportive book bloggers are with each other!

The first session of summer school is over and I can begin to enjoy the summer in earnest. I look forward to reading, reading, exercising, and reading! I've got a month off so I want to sleep in and enjoy the beautiful weather.

LeVar Burton Reads:
Kin is a short story that I listened to on LeVar Burton's new podcast called: LeVar Burton Reads. Finally a Reading Rainbow for adults! LeVar's voice is so expressive that I think I could be enthralled listening to him read the telephone book. Check out his podcast on Spotify and on Apple Music.
I would be doing great with my tbr if I stopped buying new books as reading has been going great this year for the most part. I'm trying to limit my book grabbing over the rest of the summer to put a dent in my numbers as I really do need to try harder. Enjoy your reading this week!
ReplyDeleteI, myself, am on a book buying ban but not to shorten my TBR. I simply have no money this summer! That's okay, as I have plenty to read and also use my public library. I read The Space Between the Stars, by Anne Corlett, and thought of you. I know you like end of the world type books, so I think this would be right up your alley (but, alas, no zombies).
DeleteI also have a copy of Mask of Shadows! It sounds like it's going to be sooo good! I can't wait to check it out. Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. Did you snatch up Mask Of Shadows from that email that NetGalley put out? That's how I got it. I'm glad it is the beginning of a series, as I would love to find a new fantasy series to obsess over. Have a fun week.
DeleteI have The Space Between the Stars on my TBR list, so I’m glad you liked it. Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
The Space Between The Stars starts out slow, and made me very depressed at first, then there gets to be more action and it was quite suspenseful. I would say more, but I don't want to give out any spoilers. Have a great week.
DeleteOOoh nice new reads!! Those are all new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I really want to try audiobooks at some point! I've been commuting to work via public transportation and I think I need audiobooks. :o I want to read The City of Brass - hopefully closer to the pub date! It looks so good. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend, Ardis. =)
Check out my STS post!
Yay! Glad you are getting some ARCs out of the way! I'm starting to get through my ARCs too and I'm hoping to get through more in July!
