Stacking The Shelves #148 & Sunday Post #112

I am combining two great blog hops:  Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer).  Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about.  I really enjoy seeing everyone's version of these features!   All book covers are linked to Goodreads, if you want to check them out.  If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription.  If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back!

On The Blog:
This week, I did a mini review of the audiobook version of Aurora Rising!  I has a full cast and was simply wonderful!  I also posted a review for another audiobook called Field Notes On Love.  This was a sweet YA RomCom.  click on the book covers to see my reviews:

In Real Life:
It's been another busy week as we prepare for the end of the school year. My two sons in college are having finals next week.  And my daughter is gearing up for Senior activities in the last few weeks of school.  Most of her actual school work is complete, so now it's time for fun:  Field Trips, Senior Ball, an awards ceremony, and so much more.

School is winding down for me as well, as our class gets ready for 3rd grade!  I think we are all in need of some time off.  If only the weather would cooperate!

The Transatlantic Book Club is by an Irish author I just love named Felicity Hayes McCoy.  I had to order in from Book Depository, and I am so excited to read it!  All the other books are Kindle deals I saw this week.  Was I on a book buying ban???  Whoops!

Lastly:
Has anyone made the switch from Blogger to Wordpress?  How difficult was it?   I want to start exploring a transition as there seem to be so many issue with blogger.  But I'm concerned I will lose lots of follower!  Any tips would sure help.

Thanks and have a super week!

  1. OOh nice new reads! You get new releases fast from your library! I feel like I don't usually see them at my library for a few weeks. Then again, I don't go too often. I LOVED A Curse So Dark and Lonely! I hope you will enjoy it once you read it!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. Thanks, Jessica. My library has a "Recommend" button. If I recommend a book a few months before release date, I usually get at the top of the hold list. I'm almost done with Dard Shores, and it is really fun. I have to finish a bunch of ARCs for next week, so We Hunt The Flame (and Legendary) will need to wait. :(

  2. I have two more full weeks of students and then a couple more of pd...getting there! I switched over to wordpress when the person who had formatted all my photos and social media's photobucket (or whatever they were using) went down and I couldn't get her to help. I just switched. It said "transfer your followers" and it said it did...but it's hard to know for sure. Certainly the bloglovin followers didn't just automatically switch. I have to admit that "followers" aren't really my biggest concern, though. I have a handful of people that I chat with regularly. I find the formatting on wordpress easier and like it more generally speaking. I know this wasn't a ton of help, but I'm happy I made the switch and found it pretty easy.

    1. Natalie, sharing your experience is helping me so much. I also think some of my banners are hosted on Photobucket, and I got a notice saying I need to pay them to keep that going. With school and my kid's graduation coming up, I don't have time to deal with this at the moment. But over the summer, I will be re-examining my options for the blog.

  3. I so want to read Aurora Rising!
What concerns are there with blogger? I really would like to know since I just opened up a blog on here.
I never really made a transition from Blogger to WordPress. But WordPress self-hosted is a great choice. I highly recommend Ashley at Nose Graze. She's a book blogger and has her own company when it comes to transitioning bloggers, awesome plug-ins for book bloggers. She's great :)

    1. My concern with Blogger is that some of my blog banners are hosted through Photobucket. It used to be free, but now they want to charge what I feel are excessive fees. Blogger has also been very glitchy with the formatting of the pages. I've had to learn some html in order to fix some of these problems, but they keep popping up! I'm hoping wordpress will be easier in the long run. But I am really busy right now, so any transition will need to be done over the summer. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I’ve added the Transatlantic Book Club to my wishlist, it sounds great.
I’ve always been with Wordpress, I just have a free account and it’s served me well for the last nine years. As long as you keep a notice in place for a few months on this blog directing to your new blog you should be okay.

    Have a great reading week

    1. Felicity Hayes McCoy is such a wonderful author. All her books are set in a fictional small village in Ireland. They are full of a wide ranging cast of people. I just love books about small towns! If you want to start at the beginning, read The Library at the Edge of the World. Enjoy!

  5. I want to read the Sarah Jio book. I have always used wordpress and love it. I think that there mist be a transition plugin to switch. Have a great week.

  8. I've heard a lot about Aurora Rising, all good things. I look forward to reading your review.

I started blogging here on Blogger (I think Flora's Musings is still searchable) but I switched to WordPress because of glitches too. Any new platform will take time to adjust to, but as ShelleyRae says just put a sticky post to direct your followers to your new site.

  9. I am a teacher as well and definitely know what you are feeling! I teacher a mix of 3rd/4th/5th graders in a self-contained behavior skills classroom. Everyone is ready to be done. I am looking forward to it, but also really sad about the year ending because my not-so-baby girl will become a 1st grader. Happy Reading!
