In anticipation of The Raven King's release in April, why not read (or re-read) The Raven Boys? Privileged prep-school boy meets bohemian townie in this supernatural mystery.
The opening chapter explains that the main character, named Blue, will cause her true love to die. So Blue makes sure to stay away from boys. But she can't seem to keep away from Gansey, the rich, golden boy of the local prep- school. There is so much to love about this series!

I love to listen to various things while I'm doing chores around the house. One of my favorite things to listen to are podcasts and Alec Baldwin's Here's The Thing is a smart, funny show where the star interviews legendary stars, politicians, and policy-makers. Listening to this show makes me feel like I am some sort of intellectual living in New York!
Must See:
Tom Hanks is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood, and this movie proves, once again, why. He's a good man caught up in a frightening time in American history: The Cold War. This movie just came out on DVD and pay-per-view. It is nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Watch it before the Oscars next Sunday.

I really need to get around to reading The Raven Cycle series. I've heard such wonderful things from so many bloggers. I actually think I read the first book FOREVER ago, but I never continued on with the series. (As I often do.) Oh, one of these days. I do love Tom Hanks. Bridge of Spies looks fantastic. Might have to add that to my list of movies to watch!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Hi Kim, we watched Bridge of Spies last weekend and it was great. I read all the Raven Cycle books from the library, so I think I might treat myself and buy them all soon so I can re-read them. Have a fun week.
DeleteGreat links to start my week with again!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting, Anne. I do a happy dance when I see your comments!
DeleteHahaha, thank you, so do I when I read your posts!
DeleteOoh great post! I keep saying that I must read The Raven Boys soon but it's yet to happen XD perhaps this time...
ReplyDeleteEnchanted by YA
The Raven Boys books are so wonderful. I love that Blue, the Main character, is not The Chosen One. Her ability is to enhance others powers. There are so many amazing characters and scenes. I cna't wait for the last book to be released.
DeleteGreat choices this week! I really need to get on with reading The Raven Boys, the book looks and sounds fabulous and I've had a copy forever so I just need to read it already :)
ReplyDeleteYes, you must read this book soon! It is NOT your conventional supernatural YA book. For starters, there are actual adults interacting with the teens (I hate the missing parent scenario in many YA books). Then, there are the fun characters. I love how real the behave with each other. They're friends, but they also annoy each other, complain about their messes, and would do anything for each other. Such a great book.
Deletetotally took your advice and read The Raven Boys this weekend :) and OMG it was SO good, why did I wait so long?!?! I've already ordered The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily, Lily Blue on Amazon so now I just have to wait for them to be delivered tomorrow so I can continue on in my journey! Thanks again for making Raven Boys part of your Monday Musts & convincing me to read it :)
DeleteYES YES YES re: The Raven Cycle, I will also be starting my re-read soon. I cannot wait TRK!
ReplyDeleteMy Monday Musts!
I am thinking of buying all new copies so I can re-read them and love them to death! Okay, I am a tiny bit obsessed.
DeleteSo... I've been nervous about starting The Raven Boys series, but I might give it a go someday. I haven't had luck with Maggie's other books, so I've been a bit hesitant. But good grief, everyone raves about it! LOL. Alec Baldwin is such a funny guy. I can never think of him without thinking of old school SNL. I love Tom Hanks, so I think I definitely need to check out Bridge of Spies!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read other Maggie Stiefvater books, but I can say that I love the characters of The Raven Boys. Thank you for hosting this weekly feature.
DeleteI haven't read The Raven Boys. Sadly, it's been sitting in my TBR pile for a long time. I should definitely read it. The series is extremely popular. I saw Bridge of Spies a few weeks ago. Very good movie! Tom Hanks always does a excellent job.
