Stacking The Shelves #65 & Sunday Post #28

I am combining two great blog hops:  Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer).  Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about.  I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription.  If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back! As always, all book cover images are linked to GoodReads so if you see a book you want to learn more about, just click away...

On The Blog Last Week:

On Wednesday, I was lucky enough to be able to participate in a cover reveal for one of my favorite authors, Danielle L. Jensen, who wrote Stolen Songbird.  She has written a prequel to the series, called The Broken Ones.  There is also a giveaway from the author in that post.

Monday:  Bay Area Book Events

Tuesday:  Review:  The Girls by Emma Cline

Wednesday:  Cover Reveal and Giveaway of The Broken Ones by Danielle L. Jensen

Thursday:  Review:  Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini

In "Real Life":

We got to take a short trip to Santa Barbara to visit family over the long weekend.  It was fun, going out to dinner and finally saw Rouge One at the Arlington Theatre.   But I haven't had much time for reading, and I am honestly getting kind of upset about it.  It's a hard thing to balance work, family, and one's own needs (Yes, reading is a need for me).  I had to forego several author events in order to do things for others.  I need to find a way to do it all...

New Books:

I won this book from the wonderful Nori of the blog ReadWriteLove28.  Thank you so much!

I am listening to this creepy fun book as part of a book club on GoodReads.  It is set in the Roaring 20's and is really fun with all the period touches.  There are flappers, speakeasys, and a serial killer on the loose!  The slang the main characters use is a wonderful touch.

That's it for this week.  What books are you reading?  What books are you excited about?  Let me know in the comments.

    1. Thank you AJ. I am happy to do whatever I can for my family, but I also want time to do things for myself. If I don't get that time, I become resentful (then I feel guilty for that!). I am taking today (Sunday) to finish up at least one book, and do a bunch of blogging to set me up for the next few weeks. Have a great week.

  4. I remember when that Libba Bray book was going to publish! The setting of the book is really cool. I've not read any of your new books, though I've heard of them. I hope you enjoy them!

Have an awesome weekend, Ardis. :)

    Check out my STS post!

    1. The setting makes this scary book actually fun to read. Libba Bray has really gone all out with her use of slang, fashion, and hairstyles to give us a sense of what a teen of that age would be like. This was my Grandmother's generation. It's funny to think that my Grandma would be like this, but I have a picture of her with the Flapper haircut!

    1. Yes! I have taken to using audio books as a way to read AND get things done around the house. But it is still not enough! I need quality time reading, and not late at night where I will fall asleep after 15 minutes! Have a great week.
