I am combining two great blog hops: Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about. I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription. If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back! As always, all book cover images are linked to GoodReads so if you see a book you want to learn more about, just click away...
On The Blog Last Week:
It's been another busy week. I am now feeling the "pressure" to do more reading and reviews than I can handle. This has lead to me being sloppy on reviews (apparently, I switched the names of two characters in a recent review and someone kindly pointed it out to me). This is embarrassing! Also, I missed a self-imposed deadline to review a particular book. I will post it soon. But all this is telling me that I need to reassess how I am going about blogging and reviewing. I need to slow down!!!
Monday: Bay Area Book Events #32
Tuesday: Book Review: Prodigy By Marie Lu
Wednesday: Book Review: Everything Leads To You
In "Real" Life:
As I said before, I am feeling lots of pressure from myself, to read more and more. I do read about 100 to 200 pages per day, but I need to be more realistic about what I can accomplish.
In better news, by brother (who lives in Portland, Oregon) was able to go to an author event for Gigi Pandian. She has written several books, her latest being The Elusive Elixir. These are mysteries/fantasies that have lots of cooking in them. She also includes recipes! I have really enjoyed her books, but she has not been making any Bay Area appearances. So my darling Bro went to the bookstore, Annie Bloom's Books, and we Skyped with Gigi!
It was a unique way to meet an author (That's her in the larger picture)! Then we were talking about it on Twitter, and Skype's official Twitter feed started tweeting to me!I think she will remember this for a little bit.
New Books:
NetGalley:
Public Library:
Bought:
I have been waiting for this book for a looong time! I am hoping to go to an author event on Monday to meet Stephanie Garber and get my book signed. So I think I will need to read this ASAP!
Random House First In Line Program:
This was a surprise in the mail from Random House (Thank you). I have never heard of this series, so I suppose I need to get to reading the previous books first.
That's it for this week. What books did you get? Which ones are you dying to read right away? Let me know in the comments.
OOoh Reunited!!! I sooo cannot wait to read this one!! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Thanks, Jessica. I love the cover of this book, but I will need to read up on the other books before I tackle this one. Have a great week.
DeleteI definitely feel the pressure to 'read read read and I think I kinda have the balance but need to tweak it a bit still it will never be perfect. That is such an awesome way to "meet "an author :) I have heard great things about Caraval I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteMegan @reading away the days
Thank you, Megan. I am hoping to meet Stephanie Garber at an author event on Monday! I will check out your blog today! Have a great week.
DeleteOh that is so great that author skyped with you like that. :)
ReplyDeleteYup! She was really nice and tweeted about it too! I really wanted to meet her. She lives in The SF Bay Area like me, so maybe someday I will.
DeleteI’m also feeling the pressure with reviews. I’m way behind on writing them and feeling unmotivated to even try. It’s bad. I’ve been very distracted lately.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Me too. The problem for me is I want to have time to digest what I've read, but then I'm on to another book... Then I finally get back to writing the review, and I kinda forget what happened!!! I am getting better at taking notes as I read. That's my only solution.
DeleteLooks like a good haul! I'm getting quite intrigued by Caraval.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to start Caraval today!!! I hope to go to an author event for Stephanie Garber on Monday, so I want to have a grasp of the book before I go.
DeleteYay! Glad your brother was able to meet your favorite author! I really want to read Caraval myself!
