Stacking The Shelves #83 & Sunday Post #46

I am combining two great blog hops:  Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer).  Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about.  I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription.  If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back! As always, all book cover images are linked to GoodReads so if you see a book you want to learn more about, just click away...

On The Blog:

I haven't been able to crank out much blogging this week. It's a bit frustrating, but I am trying to remind myself that this is a hobby, not a career (although if anyone has any ideas as to how I could make it a career, feel free to post a comments).

I was able to do a fun reading challenge in May.  The Clean Sweep ARC Challenge helped my get through seven ARCs in May!  All in all, I read about 10 books in May. I'm sure that many of you can read many more books, but for me, I though I got a lot done!

Monday:  Bay Area Book Events

Tuesday:  ARC Review:  Words In Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

Wednesday:  The May Clean Sweep ARC Challenge Wrap Up

In "Real Life":
School is ending and one of my boys is graduating from high school!  I'm starting to cry at random moments now (much to my kid's horror), but this has been a tough road for us.

My son was born with some physical challenges and mobility issues.  When I think back on all the people who have worked with him over the years (six aides, and numerous OT, PT, Speech, Adaptive PE, Assistive Technology, and other support people), I am grateful beyond measure.  So many people have been on his support team, cheering him on.   All of these people cared deeply for my son.  I am so thankful for their help and support.

I am also going to the Bay Area Book Festival in Berkeley this weekend.  Last year, my daughter and I had so much fun walking around all the booths, and hearing wonderful authors like Victoria Schwab!  I don't think I'll have as much time to spend at this year's event, but I will definitely check it out.

Score!!!  I haven't bought any books in a long time, so I was thrilled to get all of these books at my local thrift store for only seven dollars!  All of these books were already on my TBR list, so I couldn't pass them up.

  4. You did 1 better than me at Clean Sweep! And you have every right to be emotional, as your son has battled hard to reach this huge milestone in his life, and I'm sure you have fought every step with him. Enjoy the book fair!

  5. Wow, lots of new goodies this week! I got a copy of Saints & Misfits last week, but I'm not totally familiar with it. The Bay Area Book Festival sounds pretty cool. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    1. Thank you, Alyssa. We went to the book festival today (this is the 3rd annual one) but it wasn't as good as last year. I think that is because it falls on the same days as the New York BookCon. So we had lots of local authors, but few big names. I did pick up some fun books though...

  10. Hi Ardis! I'm a new follower, I found you on Sunday Post :)
Blogging can be time consuming, I can relate to the difficulty in cranking out the posts *and* put out quality posts at that.
Congratulations to your son on graduating high school! Sounds like he's overcome many obstacles, kudos to you for and him for working so hard to get through! My oldest just got his diploma in computer programming. Yikes...how did they grow up so fast?
You can check out my Sunday Post here :)
