Stacking The Shelves #45 & Sunday Post #8

I am combining two wonderful features:  Stacking The Shelves (hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews) and Sunday Post (hosted by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer).  Both of these features allow people to blog hop to dozens of exciting book blogs to see what books people acquired and what the buzz around the web is in the world of publishing.

If you like my blog, please consider following it or subscribing to my email list.  Just let me know you are a new subscriber in the comments along with how you are following me (Bloglovin, email, GFC, or Networked Blogs), and I will follow you back.

As always, all book covers are linked to GoodReads, so if you find a book that you want to know more about, just click away...

This has been a busy and emotional week for me.  First off, it was the first day of school for my kids on Monday.  One is now a Sophomore in high school and the other is a Senior!  I can't believe how quickly they have matured.  If you have young children, cherish every moment.  One day soon you will look on those hectic days of diaper changes and play dates and wonder where the time went.

School started for me on Tuesday.  It was exciting to see all the kids again and to meet the students in the class I am working in.  I have a wonderful teacher to work with and I think it's going to be a great year.

Unfortunately, I had to miss Thursday and Friday due to having a medical procedure done.  I feel very worn out and am uncomfortable right now.  I hope that I can rest this weekend (Ha! Fat chance).

Although I was able to read two books this week, it was far below what I have read lately.

Read This Week:

I enjoyed The audio book of The Trails Of Apollo by Rick Riordan.  His books are always fun.  I was really bowled over by A Shadow Bright And Burning, by Jessica Cluees.  What an amazing book!  I was so thrilled to get a copy from Nori of The Sunday Street Team and I read through it in about two days.  I will post a review of the book whenever Nori lets me (she is the leader I will follow into battle), but I will say that everyone who loves fantasy will be in for a treat!

New Books This Week

From The Library:

I have been on the waiting list for The Girls by Emma Cline for several months, so I will now get to listen to this audiobook soon.  I had a copy of The Orchardist earlier, but it was borrowed from a friend and I had to return it before getting to it.  I will need to get on the ball with this copy soon or I won't finish it before it is due back.  So many books, so little time...

As I said, I was delighted to get this book and I have already devoured it.  It is so, so good!

What books did you get this week?  What are you looking forward to reading?  Let's chat!

  2. I hope your kids had a great first day of school and you get some time to rest. I’m also on a waiting list for The Girls, but I’ll probably end up buying it before my number comes up.

    1. I am going to start The Girls today. It's an audio book, so I can do work around the house while I listen (multi-tasking, as always). Everyone's back at school, and tired. I hope we will be more energetic next week.

  4. I totally hear you about time flying as far as our kids are concerned! I have a freshman, a 7th a 4th grader. Throw in all their activities and we're are go, go, go, most of the time. My hubby reminds me constantly that one day we'll miss all the chaos. He's right. I already get nostalgic ;) Anyway ... Rick Riordan, you can never go wrong with one of his books. I am interested in The Girls but I think that's way down my list for now. A Shadow Bright and Burning looks good, too. Enjoy all your goodies. Here's ours: Bibliojunkies Happy reading and I hope you feel better soon! ~ Bel

    1. I can't sell people on A Shadow Bright And Burning enough. I really loved it. I know it is part of a series, but it also did NOT end on a cliffhanger (a real pet peeve of mine). I hope you will read it.

  7. My kids are back in school (about two weeks) as well. Even though you only read two books, at least they're good books. :) Hope you're feeling better and healing. Thanks for stopping by!
