I am combining two great blog hops: Stacking The Shelves (a Saturday feature by Team Tynga's Reviews), and Sunday Post (a Sunday feature by the Caffeinated Book Reviewer). Both of these features give people a chance to post about what books they received and also an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what others are excited about. I really enjoy see everyone's version of these features! If you enjoy my blog, please consider following me via Bloglovin, Networked Blogs, GFC, or by email subscription. If you leave a comment and tell me you are a new follower, I will follow you back!
I am participating in the Amazon affiliate program, so if you click on any of the book covers it will take you to Amazon if you want to buy the book. I will be getting a small fee for each purchase.
On The Blog:
Thursday: Audio Book Review: Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
The blog took a backseat to Christmas preparations, so I only had one post all week. I was able to read several books, but now I need to write all the reviews. So that's how I am spending the last weekend of 2017!
In Real Life:
Bailey's Cake, Mince Pies, Brownies, White Holiday Fudge, Earl Grey Cupcakes with Strawberry Buttercream Icing. |
My daughter and I also went to see the Pixar movie Coco. It was amazing and not really a kids movie at all. Many of the characters reminded me of relatives on the Mexican side of my family! So yes... I cried and cried at the end.
If you haven't seen this masterpiece, you need to!

New Books:
Public Library:
I'm still catching up on all the library books I got last week. Why do all these books that I place on hold always have to become available all at the same time? But really, I am looking forward to reading all these wonderful books!
That's it for this week. I hope the new year brings happiness and peace for us all.

Ooh nice new reads! Hope you enjoy them both!
ReplyDeleteI really want to see Coco myself but it looks like most theaters by me are done playing it already! I was like seriously?! Guess I gotta wait for Redbox!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
We have a large Hispanic population here in California, so it is still playing. When it first came out, three screens were showing the Spanish language version!
DeleteAn Enchantment of Ravens looks really good. Love that cover too!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great New Years!
I love the cover for An Enchantment of Ravens! I need to finish up two more books today for my reading challenge, and then I will reward myself with reading it. Happy New Yea!
DeleteYummy desserts - earl grey cupcakes?! Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteYes! Pinterest to the rescue! They were really moist and easy to make. I just infused the milk in the recipe with the tea. I may try the same method with green tea and see what happens. I love baking, but can't do it often.
DeleteI have to get my hands on All the Crooked Saints and An Enchantment of Ravens I have been wanting to read them since I heard about them...how did I already get so behind on new releases!!! Hope you enjoy them both! My Shelf
ReplyDeleteReading those will be my reward when I finish my Goodreads reading challenge. Only two books to go, and I'm almost there...Wish me luck.
DeleteMy mom and I go overboard with holiday baking as well! We have a few cookies left from our last batch and I've been steadily eating them (whoops). :D I love the holidays but I need that diet/exercise resolution right about now!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all of your new books! Happy New Year, Ardis. =)
Check out my STS post!
Same here. I have decided to downsize my reading challenge for next year so I will make more time for exercise (Boo!). But I think it will be for the best. I know I can listen to audio books while I am on the treadmill, but I know that getting to and from the gym will eat up my reading time, too. Happy New Year!
DeleteIt's a rule of the library because it always happens to my holds as well. I have An Enchantment of Ravens as well but need to reserve All the Crooked Saints. Even though I've heard mixed reviews, I'm still super interested.
ReplyDeleteTaht's the beauty (and curse) of the library. You can read books without the financial risk of buying them. Then you won't feel ripped off if you don't like them. I only buy books now when I go to book signings. Otherwise, it's the library for me.
DeleteOoh that movie looks nice. Hoping to see it soon :D
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your new reads. Happy New Year!
My STS: http://flippingthruthepages.com/2017/12/stacking-shelves-13-last-one-year-2017/
Thank you. Coco may not be playing in theaters much longer. But I bet it will be available on DVD soon. I anticipate that it will sell record numbers, and I will be first in line to get a copy. Have a wonderful New Year.
DeleteSo many yummy looking desserts! *drools* I'm so glad you loved Coco. That's one I still need to see!!
